[Global Pesticide Market Research] reports that in 2024, BASF will achieve sales of approximately €11 billion (approximately 86.3 billion RMB) from products developed and launched over the past five years. This figure is included in the BASF 2024 Annual Report, published on March 21, 2025. “Our long-term goal is to further increase sales and profitability of innovative and improved products—particularly those that contribute to sustainable development,” said Dr. Stephan Kothrade,
Member of the BASF Board of Executive Directors and Chief Technology Officer.
In 2024, BASF maintained its leading position in the chemical industry in both patent quantity and quality, submitting 1,159 new patent applications throughout the year, approximately 45% of which focused specifically on sustainability. Despite facing economic challenges, BASF’s R&D investment remained high at €2.1 billion in 2024, maintaining its leading position in the industry. The company plans to maintain the same R&D budget in 2025.
“Innovation is key to achieving our new ‘Winning Path’ strategy. Our product and process innovations not only help our customers succeed in the market, but also help them achieve their sustainability goals,” Kothrade said. “Our achievements over the past year are the result of the combined efforts of nearly 10,000 highly qualified R&D teams worldwide. These experts are dedicated to developing projects that strengthen our competitiveness and sustainability.”

In 2024, BASF launched a series of innovative products in various fields, including sustainable development, material innovation, and agricultural technology. The main product development directions and products in crop protection are as follows:
Mibelya fungicide: A combination of fluopicolide and clofopyralid, it can effectively prevent and control diseases such as black spot and anthracnose on crops such as tomatoes, apples and potatoes.
Vinquo Insecticide: Contains acyclovir as its active ingredient and has a unique mechanism of action against piercing-sucking pests such as whiteflies on tomatoes and potatoes, helping to delay the development of insecticide resistance.
Revy Lok™ fungicide: specially designed for soybean cultivation, it can effectively control diseases such as Cercospora leaf spot and gray leaf spot, thereby increasing soybean yield.
Axant™ Flex Cotton Trait System: Combining novel herbicide resistance genes with premium cotton varieties, it provides cotton farmers with more flexible weed management options.
Endura Pro fungicide: Mainly used for potato disease prevention and control, it can effectively resist early blight and white mold, etc., helping to increase potato yields.
Blockchain Tracked Cotton (CSF): Developed with partners in Greece, a transparent seed-to-sewn blockchain platform that tracks cotton’s carbon footprint and supports the production of recycled cotton.
