QM-9396 PU gelation time extender

Product Overview:

In polyurethane coating formulation design, drying time and gelation time often conflict. Some metallic driers, such as organotin, can accelerate system reactivity and improve drying performance, but they also shorten gelation time. QM-9396 is a volatile substance that complexes with organotin and other metallic driers, inhibiting their catalytic effect and prolonging gelation time. It also evaporates with the solvent during film formation, releasing metallic tin to continue its catalytic action without affecting the actual drying performance of the system.

Physicochemical Parameters:

Structure: Compound with a special structure

Appearance: Slightly yellow liquid

Density: 0.80-1.00

Solubility: Soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, esters, ethers, benzenes, and acetone.

Product Characteristics:

During film formation, it evaporates along with the solvent, releasing metallic tin to act as a catalyst without affecting the actual drying performance of the system;

It is used to extend the activation period of polyurethane coatings by 2-4 hours.

Suitable for PU coating production, manufacturing, adhesive manufacturing, etc.

Recommended Dosage: 

Dosage: Generally, a dosage of 2-4% of the total amount is recommended.

QM-9396 will complex with iron ions in rust to form a wine-red substance. For paints containing this product, check the packaging quality; plastic drum packaging is recommended.

QM-9396 may cause some matte finishes to yellow (such as OK-520). This problem can be solved by adding QM-9396 to the thinner.

Packaging and Storage:

The product should be stored in a cool, ventilated place. Unopened, the shelf life is 24 months from the production date.
