2,4,6-Tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol—abbreviated as DMP-30 or TAP—is an organic amine compound that typically appears at room temperature as a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid with a distinct ammoniacal odor. Its molecular structure contains two active functional groups: a phenolic hydroxyl group and a tertiary amine group. This dual functionality endows the compound with both acidic and nucleophilic properties, granting it unique catalytic activity within the chemical industry.
As a key raw material in the fine chemical sector, DMP-30 is primarily utilized in the field of polymer materials. In epoxy resin systems, it serves as a highly efficient curing accelerator, capable of significantly lowering curing temperatures and reducing curing times; consequently, it is widely employed in the production of anticorrosive coatings, epoxy flooring, and adhesives. In the polyurethane industry, it is frequently used as a trimerization catalyst to promote the trimerization of isocyanates, thereby facilitating the synthesis of polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam materials characterized by excellent heat resistance and dimensional stability.

DMP-30 is one of the most widely used accelerators in the field of epoxy resins. It can significantly lower the curing temperature of epoxy resins when used with amine or anhydride curing agents. For instance, at a standard ambient temperature of 25°C, an epoxy resin system without an accelerator might require 24 hours to cure; however, with the addition of DMP-30, this curing time can be reduced to 8–12 hours, thereby greatly enhancing construction efficiency.
Furthermore, DMP-30 is particularly well-suited for rapid-curing applications in low-temperature environments—such as the installation of epoxy flooring during winter or in humid conditions. Epoxy resin coatings cured with DMP-30 typically exhibit high hardness, excellent adhesion, and superior chemical resistance; consequently, they are widely utilized in anti-corrosive coatings, epoxy flooring systems, structural adhesives, and electronic potting compounds.
In the polyurethane industry, DMP-30 is primarily employed in the production of rigid polyurethane foams (PIR). It efficiently catalyzes the trimerization reaction of isocyanates, serving as a key auxiliary agent in the manufacture of highly heat-resistant PIR foams.
During the foam manufacturing process, the addition of DMP-30 helps increase the closed-cell content and reduce thermal conductivity, thereby enhancing thermal insulation performance. Simultaneously, it improves the foam’s compressive strength and dimensional stability, making it ideal for applications—such as building insulation and cold-chain logistics—where high demands are placed on heat resistance and dimensional integrity.
