3-[2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-trimethoxysilane is a triamino-functional silane featuring three amino groups and three hydrolyzable alkoxy (methoxy) groups in its molecular structure. This dual reactivity enables it to facilitate bonding, adhesion, and compatibility between inorganic materials (such as glass, metals, and fillers) and organic polymers (such as thermosetting resins, plastics, and elastomers) through bidirectional chemical reactions; consequently, it enhances the mechanical properties of resin-based composites or improves the adhesion strength and water resistance of resin coatings. Depending on the specific application, it can serve as a coupling agent, adhesion promoter, curing agent, or surface modifier for fillers.

As a trimethoxysilane, 3-[2-(2-Aminoethylamino)ethylamino]propyl-trimethoxysilane hydrolyzes significantly faster than triethoxysilanes, resulting in more rapid reaction and curing rates; however, the byproduct of its hydrolysis is methanol, which makes it slightly less environmentally friendly.

Function

1. Used as an additive or film-forming coating agent in methanol, urea-formaldehyde, furan, polyurethane, silicone, epoxy, nitrile, and acrylic coatings, inks, adhesives, and sealants. It enhances the adhesion, corrosion resistance, weather resistance, boil resistance, and scrub resistance of resin coatings, extends service life, and improves the dispersion and bonding of pigments and fillers within the resin matrix.

2. Used in resin-bonded sand casting and resin-bonded abrasives to improve the bonding strength and water resistance between the resin and silica sand or abrasive grains.

3. Used in plastics, rubber, resins, and low-voltage halogen-free flame-retardant insulation materials reinforced with mineral fillers or glass fibers to improve the dispersion and bonding of fillers and fibers within the resin matrix.

4. Used for the surface treatment of inorganic mineral fillers, flame retardants, and glass fibers to enhance their dispersion, compatibility, bonding strength, and reinforcing effects within the resin matrix.
