HPMA is a hydroxypropyl methacrylate monomer that does not contain HEMA. It features low viscosity, low irritation, high adhesion, low shrinkage, good compatibility, high cured strength, and good toughness. It can be used as a reactive diluent. Furthermore, since the monomer contains hydroxyl groups, it can be used as a polyurethane acrylate end-capping agent and a monomer for the synthesis of hydroxyl acrylic resins.

Function

Hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HMAP) is an important raw material for the production of thermosetting coatings and two-component coatings (such as polyurethane coatings and epoxy coatings). It can be used as a reactive diluent and crosslinking agent in the preparation of automotive paints, appliance paints, and wood coatings, significantly improving the hardness, weather resistance, and adhesion of the paint film.

In the adhesive field, its high reactivity and hydroxyl functional groups allow for the synthesis of high-performance acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA), structural adhesives, and sealants. It improves the initial tack and cohesive strength of adhesives and is widely used in packaging, construction, and automotive industries.

It is frequently used in the synthesis of dental materials (such as denture powder and denture base materials) and medical polymer materials for the manufacture of artificial organs and contact lenses. In these applications, its hydroxyl and double bond properties contribute to the bonding and functional realization of the material with human tissue.

Hydroxypropyl methacrylate can be used as a reactive diluent and crosslinking agent in UV curing systems for the production of UV inks and UV varnishes, offering advantages such as fast curing speed and low energy consumption.

In addition, it can be added to plastics and rubber as a modifier to improve their flexibility, heat resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. It can also be used as an additive in cleaning lubricating oils to improve their performance.
