Phenylacetoxysilane is an important monomer for the synthesis of phenyl silicone oil, silicone resin, and silicone rubber. In the preparation of silicone resin, it is often copolymerized with monomers such as methyltriethoxysilane to produce methylphenyl silicone resin, which possesses excellent heat resistance, weather resistance, and electrical insulation properties. This resin is widely used in high-temperature coatings, laminates, and electronic packaging materials, maintaining stable performance at high temperatures. In the field of silicone rubber, as a raw material for phenyl silicone rubber, it imparts a lower glass transition temperature (Tg), allowing it to maintain good elasticity at low temperatures while improving heat resistance and radiation resistance, making it particularly suitable for sealing components and insulating materials in the aerospace industry.

As a highly efficient silane coupling agent, phenyltriethoxysilane is widely used to improve the dispersibility and compatibility of inorganic fillers in organic polymers. In the manufacture of glass fiber reinforced composites (such as fiberglass), it is used for surface treatment of glass fibers. By forming a monomolecular film on the fiber surface, it can significantly improve the interfacial adhesion between the glass fiber and the resin matrix, thereby enhancing the tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact resistance of the composite material. In addition, it is used to treat inorganic fillers such as calcium carbonate, aluminum hydroxide, and talc, changing their surface from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. This improves the dispersibility of the fillers in plastics, rubber, and coatings, prevents filler agglomeration, and enhances the processing performance of materials and the mechanical properties of final products.

Phenylacetoxysilane can also be used as a crosslinking agent for room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber, promoting the vulcanization reaction and increasing the crosslinking density and mechanical strength of the rubber. In the coatings and adhesives industry, as an adhesion promoter, it significantly improves the adhesion of coatings to substrates such as metals and glass, as well as their water resistance and scrub resistance, ensuring that the coating does not peel off during long-term use.
