QM-9340 Thixotropic Thickener

Magnesium aluminum silicate thixotropic anti-sagging agents offer excellent anti-settling, thickening, and anti-sagging effects in solvent-based coatings, with few side effects and no impact on gloss or leveling. In water-based coatings (including latex paints), they provide excellent anti-settling and anti-splattering effects. They offer high cost-effectiveness.

Product Overview:

QM-9340 is a gelling agent made from hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate through a special process. It exhibits excellent thixotropic, thickening, and anti-sagging effects in both aqueous and solvent-based systems. It can be used alone to provide low-shear thixotropy, or in combination with other thickeners such as QM-9041, QM-6900-20X, and bentonite.

Gels thickened with QM-9340 exhibit yield-plastic or thixotropic fluid characteristics. These gel properties are manifested as:

(1) gel strength

(2) high apparent viscosity under low shear

(3) low apparent viscosity under high shear

(4) viscosity and other characteristics quickly return to their original state upon shear cessation.

Therefore, QM-9340 gel is commonly used as a stabilizer for multiphase systems (suspensions and emulsions) requiring rheological control, providing excellent anti-settling and anti-sagging functions.

Physicochemical Parameters:

Composition: Hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate

Appearance: Yellowish-white powder

Effective content: 100%

Product Characteristics:

Excellent anti-sagging properties; when applied to latex paints, it provides anti-splattering functionality and improves the uniformity of the paint film surface;

It improves the tinting strength and hiding power of pigments;

It exhibits significant thixotropic thickening effect, preventing pigment sedimentation and mitigating paint film dehydration shrinkage;

It is chemically inert and insensitive to pH changes;

It does not affect paint film leveling, gloss, or fullness; and it does not cause paint film collapse.

Application Systems:

Suitable for conventional solvent-based and water-based coatings, recommended for use in latex paints, casting coatings, automotive paints, truck paints, industrial paints, anti-corrosion paints, water-based adhesives, glues, putties and sealants, BMC, SMC, FRP/GRP, etc.

Recommended Dosage:

The recommended addition amount is 0.5-2% of the total formulation. In aqueous systems, it is recommended to first disperse at high speed to form a pre-mixed slurry before use. Replacing organoclay in solvent-based systems can significantly reduce coating costs. High-speed dispersion after addition is the most common method; grinding produces excellent dispersion results.

Packaging and Storage:

25kg/drum.

The product should be stored in a cool, ventilated place. Unopened, the shelf life is 24 months from the production date.
