QM-T9709 Polyurethane Associative Thickener

Product Overview:

QM-T9709 is a non-ionic polyurethane thickener that forms micelles in the aqueous phase. The hydrophobic ends of the thickener molecules adsorb onto hydrophobic structures such as latex particles and surfactants, forming a three-dimensional network structure that increases the viscosity of the system. It offers excellent thickening efficiency at medium shear rates, providing superior leveling and anti-sagging properties, and good pigment dispersion stability. Compared to other water-based thickeners, it exhibits exceptionally superior overall performance and has minimal impact on the water resistance and salt spray resistance of the paint film.

Product Characteristics:

Resistant to biodegradation, excellent anti-splattering properties, high film build, uniform coating, and does not affect paint film gloss;

Wide pH range of application;

Minimal impact on paint film properties such as water resistance and salt spray resistance;

Thickening efficiency is affected by various factors such as emulsion type, PVC content, and volume fraction;

PUR thickeners are sensitive to surfactants/alcohol solvents/dispersants, which may affect thickening efficiency.

Application Systems:

Suitable for water-based coatings such as water-based emulsions and water-dispersible systems, including water-based latex paints, wood coatings, and other industrial paints.

Recommended Dosage: 

The typical addition amount is 0.05-1% (of the total formula), and it is recommended to dilute it with water or a solubilizer before use.

Packaging and Storage:

Available in 60kg or 160kg drums.
The product should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated place. The shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when unopened.
