Nicotinamide, also known as nicotinamide, is an amide compound of nicotinic acid. It is a white crystalline powder; odorless or almost odorless, with a bitter taste; slightly hygroscopic. It is readily soluble in water or ethanol and soluble in glycerol. Clinically, it is mainly used to prevent and treat pellagra, stomatitis, glossitis, sick sinus syndrome, atrioventricular block, and other problems.

1. Biochemical research; nutrient components of tissue culture media; clinical application as a B vitamin, used to prevent and treat pellagra, stomatitis, glossitis, and other ailments.

2. An essential nutrient for mammals. It is more water-soluble than niacin, but easily forms complexes with vitamin C, causing clumping. Dosage: 30–mg/kg.

3. Nicotinamide and niacin are often interchangeable; niacin also produces nicotinamide in animals. Pellagra is caused by nicotinamide deficiency, therefore this product can prevent it. It plays a role in protein and carbohydrate metabolism, improving nutrition in humans and animals. It can be used as a nutritional additive in cosmetics. It is also used in pharmaceuticals, food, and feed additives.
