3-Aminopropyl-methyl-diethoxysilane is a monoamino organosilane with a reactive primary amine functional group and two hydrolyzable alkoxy groups (ethoxy groups). This dual reactivity allows it to enhance the bonding, adhesion, and compatibility between inorganic materials (glass, metals, fillers) and organic polymers (thermosetting resins, plastics, elastomers) through bidirectional chemical reactions, thereby improving the mechanical properties of resin-based composites or enhancing the adhesion, strength, and water resistance of resin coatings. In various applications, they can be used as coupling agents, adhesion promoters, curing agents, and surface modifiers for pigments and fillers.

Function

Trimethoxysilanes possess both alkoxy bonds and reactive silane-hydrogen bonds.

Due to the presence of reactive hydrogen atoms, alkoxy-hydrogen silanes are highly suitable for preparing numerous high-purity organosilicon compounds, such as modified silane sealants, antifogging agents, water repellents, silane coupling agents (e.g., vinyl, epoxy, and methacryloxy derivatives), and coating materials.

The silane-hydrogen bonds can undergo hydrosilylation with a series of enyne monomers under platinum catalysis, yielding various organosilicon coupling agents, polyethers, and polyacrylate sealants and adhesives.
