3-(1,3-DIMETHYLBUTYLIDENE)AMINOPROPYLTRIETHOXYSILANE is a potentially reactive masked aminosilane prepared from a primary amine coupling agent and a ketone compound. This masked aminosilane (ketoimine structure: -N=CR1R2) does not possess the normal properties of primary aminosilanes, but upon exposure to water in any form, hydrolysis occurs rapidly, releasing ketone byproducts and leaving behind an activated primary amine.

Aminosilanes can be used as additives in the formulation of resins that are typically incompatible with aminosilanes, such as epoxy resins, or in phenols used in coatings, adhesives, and surface treatment agents.
These new formulations exhibit good adhesion and reinforcement properties, and can also be used in one-component packaging systems where moisture or humidity in the air can cause them to unseal.
In various applications, this product can be used as an adhesion promoter, crosslinking agent, and surface modifier for pigments and fillers, and can be used in resin coatings and resin-based composites in various solvent-based inks, coatings, adhesives, etc.
