KH-570, chemically known as γ-(methacryloxy)propyltrimethoxysilane, is a silane coupling agent widely utilized for the interfacial modification of inorganic materials and organic polymers. Its molecular structure incorporates two reactive functional groups—a methacryloxy group and a trimethoxysilane group—which are capable of undergoing chemical reactions with hydroxyl groups on the surface of inorganic fillers and double bonds within organic resins, respectively. This process effectively establishes a robust “molecular bridge” between two materials of fundamentally distinct properties. As an unsaturated double-bond type silane coupling agent, KH-570 is particularly well-suited for resin systems cured via free-radical polymerization, such as unsaturated polyester resins and acrylic resins. It significantly enhances the mechanical strength, electrical properties, and water resistance of composite materials, finding extensive application in fields such as fiberglass-reinforced plastics, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and wires and cables.

In glass fiber-reinforced plastics (such as unsaturated polyester resin-based composites), KH-570 is the preferred coupling agent. It significantly enhances the dry and wet flexural strength, tensile strength, and interlaminar shear strength of the composites; in particular, it substantially improves the material’s retention of mechanical properties in humid environments. Furthermore, it can also enhance the light transmission properties of the composites.
KH-570 serves as an excellent adhesion promoter in coatings, adhesives, and sealants based on systems such as acrylic resins, vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers (VAE), and unsaturated polyesters. It improves the adhesion of coatings to inorganic substrates—such as glass and metals—while simultaneously enhancing their water resistance and aging resistance. KH-570 also plays a crucial role in UV-curable systems.
In the wire and cable industry, KH-570 is utilized to treat fillers (such as clay) within peroxide-crosslinked ethylene-propylene rubber (EPM/EPDM) systems. It improves filler dispersion, reduces the dielectric loss factor, and enhances insulation performance, while simultaneously boosting the cables’ resistance to aging and weathering.
