In the plastics industry, isooctyl mercaptoacetate is a key raw material for the synthesis of heat stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), particularly for the manufacture of highly efficient stabilizers such as tin thiolates and antimony thiolates. These products significantly improve the heat resistance and transparency of plastic products and are commonly used in food packaging materials and medical devices.

In the mineral processing sector, it is a highly effective copper-molybdenum separation inhibitor, significantly improving the recovery rate of molybdenum concentrate.
