Potassium aluminum sulfate is a colorless crystal or powder. It is odorless, slightly sweet with astringent taste, and has astringent properties. It effloresces in dry air, losing its water of crystallization, and dissolves in humid air, producing a watery precipitate. It is readily soluble in glycerol, soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is acidic. Hydrolysis produces a gelatinous precipitate of aluminum hydroxide.

Function
It is mainly used in the production of creatine (monohydrate) and N-acylsarcosine and its sodium salt. It is used as a dyeing auxiliary for fast dyes. It is used in the production of high-grade medicated soaps and cosmetics. It is also used as a rust inhibitor for lubricating oils, a fiber dyeing auxiliary, an antistatic agent, and a softening agent. It is a bactericidal anionic surfactant and is widely used in the daily chemical industry.
