Dilauryl thiodipropionate (DLTP) is an auxiliary antioxidant belonging to the class of organic disulfides. It appears as a white, flocculent or flaky crystalline solid—typically presenting as a powder at room temperature—and exhibits excellent solubility in oils. As a fat-soluble antioxidant, DLTP exerts its stabilizing effect primarily by decomposing the hydroperoxides generated during the oxidation of polymeric materials and fats, thereby interrupting the oxidative chain reaction.

Function

In the plastics and rubber industries, it is frequently compounded with phenolic primary antioxidants to generate a significant synergistic effect, thereby effectively enhancing the thermal stability and weather resistance of products while preventing yellowing and aging.

In the food industry, DLTP is approved for use as a food additive in edible oils and fats, fat-containing foods, and for the preservation of fruits and vegetables; its maximum permitted usage level is typically 0.2 g/kg.
