Tripropylene glycol diacrylate (TPGDA) is a bifunctional reactive diluent widely used in ultraviolet (UV) curing. As an aliphatic acrylate monomer, it possesses low viscosity, low odor, and excellent reactivity. It is often used to adjust the viscosity of UV-curing systems and participate in polymerization reactions, thereby imparting good flexibility and crosslinking density to the cured film. TPGDA is widely used in coatings, inks, adhesives, and 3D printing resins, and is one of the indispensable basic raw materials for modern UV curing technology.

Function

In UV-curable coatings and inks, TPGDA is widely used as a reactive diluent and crosslinking agent. It significantly reduces the viscosity of the system, improves leveling and wetting properties, and participates in the curing reaction, increasing the hardness and abrasion resistance of the coating film.2 Due to its bifunctional structure, TPGDA can form a dense crosslinking network, giving the coating film excellent chemical and solvent resistance. Furthermore, the low shrinkage of TPGDA also helps improve the adhesion of the coating film to the substrate.

TPGDA also has important applications in photocurable adhesives. As a reactive diluent, it can adjust the viscosity and curing speed of the adhesive to suit different bonding process requirements. The addition of TPGDA can improve the initial tack and final bond strength of the adhesive, while also improving the flexibility and impact resistance of the adhesive layer.

In 3D printing technologies such as stereolithography (SLA) and digital light processing (DLP), TPGDA is often used as one of the base monomers in resin formulations. Its low viscosity and rapid curing properties help improve printing speed and accuracy, while its good flexibility can reduce deformation and breakage of printed parts during the peeling process.
