DMAEE is an important catalyst in the polyurethane industry, particularly as a low-odor reactive catalyst. It is widely used in the preparation of rigid polyurethane foams, especially low-density, water-blown open-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF). It can also be used in the production of molded flexible foams and polyether polyurethane block foams.
Besides the polyurethane industry, DMAEE is used as an organic synthesis reagent and intermediate in the synthesis of compounds such as N,N,N’-trimethylbis(aminoethyl) ether, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Utilizing its good emulsifying and dispersing properties, it can also be used as an additive in coatings, adhesives, and cleaning agents to improve product stability and performance.
In carbon dioxide capture technology, aqueous solutions of DMAEE exhibit high absorption capacity and low regeneration energy consumption, showing potential as an absorbent.
