In the manufacture of Fiber-Reinforced Plastics (FRP), KH-792 frequently serves as the primary active ingredient in sizing agents. It significantly enhances the adhesion between glass fibers and resin matrices (such as epoxy, phenolic, and nylon), improves the mechanical properties of the composite material under both dry and wet conditions (e.g., tensile strength and flexural strength), and boosts its electrical performance and water resistance. Furthermore, it is utilized for the surface modification of mineral fillers—such as talc, mica, and aluminum hydroxide—to improve their dispersibility within the resin matrix.
As a highly effective adhesion promoter, KH-792 is widely incorporated into various coatings and adhesives, including those based on epoxy, polyurethane, and acrylic resins. It substantially strengthens the adhesion of coatings to inorganic substrates—such as glass and metals (steel, aluminum, and zinc)—while enhancing the coating’s resistance to boiling water, corrosion, and weathering. In sealants (such as silicone and polyurethane sealants), it also effectively boosts the bonding strength across a wide range of substrates.
In precision casting and resin-bonded sand processes, KH-792 functions as a reinforcing agent. It improves the bonding strength between binders (such as phenolic resins) and silica sand, thereby enhancing the strength and water resistance of the sand mold, reducing resin consumption, and improving the surface finish of the resulting castings. Similarly, in the manufacture of abrasives—such as resin-bonded grinding wheels—it effectively increases the bonding strength between the abrasive grains and the resin binder.
