Aromatic compound salicylic acid has a wide range of applications, serving as an important intermediate in the pharmaceutical, fragrance, dye, and pesticide industries.

In the pharmaceutical field, its most common application is in aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). Besides this, salicylic acid is also used in the production of drugs such as salicylaminophen, tribromosalicylate, and sulfasalazine.

In the fragrance industry, salicylic acid can be used to synthesize a series of esters, including methyl salicylate, isobutyl salicylate, and benzyl salicylate.

In the dye industry, salicylic acid is used to prepare Direct Dark Brown M, Direct Brown 3G, and Direct Lightfast Brown BRL.

In the pesticide industry, salicylic acid is also a raw material for pesticides such as methamidophos, methyl isofenphos, and ethyl isofenphos.
