2,5-Furfurylic acid / FDCA Reach CAS 3238-40-2

FDCA is listed as one of the twelve key platform compounds in the U.S. Department of Energy’s “Building a Green Future” initiative. It has a similar cyclic structure and reactivity to terephthalic acid (PTA) and can replace or supplement benzene-based materials in various applications. It is currently the furan monomer with the largest market demand and the most clearly defined application scenarios.

FDCA Product Parameters:

Product Name: 2,5-Furandicarboxylic Acid
Molecular Formula: C6H4O5
CAS No.: 3238-40-2
Molecular Weight: 156.09
Melting Point: 310℃
Relative Density: 1.604 g/cm3 at 25℃
Boiling Point: 419.2℃ at 760 mmHg
Stability: Stable at room temperature; store in a cool, dry, and tightly sealed environment.

The polymer of FDCA and ethylene glycol—polyethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate (PEF)—exhibits excellent gas barrier properties in packaging applications and possesses natural antibacterial, moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and UV-resistant properties in fiber applications. FDCA can also be used as a raw material for the production of polymers such as bio-based nylon (PA), bio-based aramid (PPA), and bio-based rubber.

The company has completed the delivery of hundreds of tons of FDCA in the industry and launched high-purity FDCA products in 2024. The purity, color and impurity indicators have been significantly optimized, which significantly improves the speed of downstream adoption.
