Function

The degradation products of PLGA are lactic acid and glycolic acid, so it does not produce toxic side effects when used in pharmaceuticals and biomaterials. By adjusting the monomer ratio, the degradation time of PLGA can be altered. This method has been widely applied in the biomedical field, and PLGA can be used as a raw material and excipient in sustained-release formulations such as surgical anti-adhesion membranes, skin grafts, wound sutures, injectable microcapsules, bone fixation and repair, in vivo implantation, regenerative medicine, microspheres, and implants. It can also be used as a porous scaffold for tissue engineering cell culture, with adjustable porosity, pore size, and degradation rate.
